HP 1340X & 1380X Compatible Toner: ‘e’ vs. Non-‘e’ Printers (Avoid Wrong Purchase!)

  • When choosing our HP compatible toners (1340X or 1380X), the key is to tell if your printer is an “e” model or non-“e” model—it directly determines if our toners work for you. Here’s the core difference:

1. “e” Models (e.g., M209dwe, M234dwe)

  • Key Limitation: Only supports genuine HP toners (including genuine 1340X, 1380X). Their firmware will block third-party compatible toners (including ours)—you won’t be able to use them even if you buy!
  • Features: Requires internet to activate HP+ service, with functions like remote printing. But they’re not friendly to compatible toners.

2. Non-“e” Models (e.g., M209dw, M234dw)

  • Key Advantage: Work with both genuine HP toners (1340X, 1380X) and our compatible toners—better value for money.
  • Features: No internet needed, with basic functions (wireless printing, double-sided printing, etc.). Ideal for users who want flexible toner options.

Note on 1380X & 1480X Toners

Our 1380X and 1480X compatible toners share the same after-sales issue as the 1340X: They only work with non-“e” HP printers. If your printer is an “e” model, 1380X and 1480X compatible toners will also be blocked by the printer’s firmware, just like the 1340X.

First, check the suffix of your printer model:

  • Has “e” → Our compatible toners (1340X, 1380X, 1480X) won’t work.
  • No “e” → You can buy any of our 1340X/1380X/1480X compatible toners with confidence!
